How can I convince a loved one that they need help?

It’s not an easy endeavor because when it comes to addiction, the person with the problem often refuses to acknowledge it. People in active addiction are frequently in denial about their situation and unwilling to seek treatment. They may not recognize the negative consequences their behavior causes for themselves and others. Simply asking them to stop or reprimanding them rarely works. Often, a more structured approach is required. You may need a formal intervention.
