Program Overview

In this presentation we will focus on the comparison between the various stages of dealing with a loss and the stages of the recovery process. There is a unique bond between the two, and understanding this connection can be extremely helpful, especially early in the individual’s recovery. This topic will be presented as a lecture, discussion, and interactive exercise.

About the Speaker

Dr. John McClanahan is the Principle Provider at McClanahan and Associates in Annapolis, Maryland. He has been an educator in substance abuse for over forty years and a treatment provider for over thirty years. He has been a provider of education and treatment services for both the public and private sectors. He has been a popular guest on many radio shows for a number of years. His unique presentation style combines motivation, enthusiasm, humor and warmth. He holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Counseling, is a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor and is a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor. He is the author of several works on addiction. He is the presenter in the video—“ Relapse – The Seven Letter Dirty Word” and fifteen other titles. He has national recognition in the field of addiction and it’s treatment. In addition to his private practice and various other projects, he is a visiting guest lecturer at Father Martin’s Ashley and several other internationally recognized treatment facilities.
