Military IOP

Military IOP (M-IOP for short) is designed to address the unique needs and challenges associated with the members of our military, law enforcement, and first responder clients.

Our Military IOP (M-IOP for short) is designed to address the unique needs and challenges associated with the members of our military, law enforcement, and first responder clients.

Successful treatment outcomes have been strongly linked to the therapeutic alliance formed between the practitioner and the client. Our clinicians all have a military/law enforcement background as well as extensive experience treating this population.

At our Intensive Outpatient Program in Fairfield VA, our goal is to reduce our patients’ symptoms and to improve their overall health and functioning in social, occupational, educational, and other areas critical to leading a safe, independent, and productive life.

Our program provides the support, structure, and accountability needed for long-term recovery while also allowing clients to maintain work, school, or family commitments. Treatment programming is designed to address individual risks for relapse and current environmental stressors.

Our M-IOP is based on the relapse prevention model developed by Terence T. Gorski, an internationally recognized expert on substance abuse and mental health, the principles of 12-Step recovery , and the lessons learned from working directly with this population for over two decades.

Our program specializes in treating populations who have traditionally shown an increased level of resistance to treatment that is founded in a distrust of supporting systems. All too often, command support is underutilized due to the fear that it may limit career advancement. For veterans, this mindset of distrust does not end with their service commitment but is carried with them as they navigate the private sector.

While in M-IOP, we ask that you attend all prescribed groups on a regular basis. In addition, we ask that you interact with your peers in a helpful manner. In treatment, you will gain the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to maintain a successful life. You will be discharged with a plan of care appropriate for your continued success.
